It's a true testament to how tired he is, how quickly the adrenaline of the escape is draining out of him, that Marcus doesn't dwell on Dan's head resting against his thigh. It's clear Dan is tired and there's only so much space in the cab of the truck, so it only makes sense, of course, that they'd be this close. Marcus's real focus is getting them back and then seeing what they can do about Dan's neck, the other wounds he's sustained. Kat will be able to help him with that and when he thinks of her again, he reaches for his cell phone and hits his speed dial for her number.

The call doesn't connect and he sighs and drops the phone into the cup holder near the gear shift.

"You can't help everyone," he says softly, not quite knowing what Dan means that he could have helped them without saving them. "I know that's hardly a comfort and I know... I know better than a lot of people what it feels like to think you've failed someone, but you were chained up, Dan. We're lucky to have gotten you out of there."
