"Thanks, duck," Marcus says when Kat brings over the ice. He knows he needs it, he can already feel his knee swelling further and he'd like to prevent that from going too far if he can. A part of him doesn't want to tell her, only because he wants to be able to protect her from things, but he knows that's utterly foolish. After Casey and Angela, he knows Kat has seen some of the most horrible things anyone can possibly see, and then it had only gotten worse with Betty. What's happening at Kagura isn't going to traumatize her.
"It is bad," he says as he settles the ice on his outstretched knee, then takes a better look at Dan's throat. "There were cells all over, although most of the ones I could see were empty. They were keeping Dan apart from the others for some reason. Had a bloody shackle around his throat."
He wipes away some of the blood, then looks over at Kat again. "Trassel stayed up there. I think he wanted to kill a few more of those creatures."
